Christmas at St GilesWe'd love to welcome you to our Christmas celebrations.
This year.... two Christingle opportunities!
Christingles are made using oranges, sweets and a few other bits including a candle. Each element of a Christingle has a special meaning and helps to tell the story of Jesus's light in the world, a message of hope this Christmas. Christingle on the Croquet Lawn - 3rd Dec
Come and find us on Central Avenue on Saturday 3rd December 9am - 1pm. Family fun for young and old, making a festive Christingle to take home. Christingle All Age Service - Sunday 4th Dec
Join us in church on Sunday 4th December at 10.30am. All ages join together to make a Christmas decoration which tells the meaning behind the Christmas story. We will also be collecting donations for The Great Notts Christmas Toy Appeal - take a look here to see what you could give. Come along from 10am for coffee before the service starts. Carols by Candlelight - Sunday 18th Dec 7pm
A traditional service of 9 lessons and carols, with musical contributions from both our choir and worship band. Pop-up Nativity on Christmas Eve - 4pm
A fun, interactive Nativity service that all ages will enjoy. We would love children come to the Nativity dressed up as one of the characters from the story - angels, shepherds, wise men, donkeys, cows, sheep and stars! There will also be costumes in church for anyone who needs one. There will be the opportunity for plenty of audience interaction and participation! Christmas Eve Communion - 11pm
Welcome in Christmas with us at this reflective service of Holy Communion with choir and organ. Christmas Day Celebration - 10am
Worship with communion for all ages as we join together to welcome the Light of the World on Christmas morning. |
Christmas Tree Festival
Fri 9th & Sat 10th 10am - 5pm In the run-up to Christmas, we are delighted to be hosting our first Community Christmas Tree Festival. The church will filled with lit trees to create a memorable spectacle, all decorated by local groups, organisations and businesses. Invite friends and family to come and join us for a cuppa and a mince pie whilst enjoying the Christmas trees on display and some festive music. We will be collecting during the event for The Friary (www.the-friary.org.uk). |
